Kara Martin

Kids' director

If you’ve read Paul’s bio—or spent much time around Community—you may have noticed that Paul and Kara share the same last name. That’s not a coincidence. They’re married… to each other! So that’s awesome.

Kara’s early life was anything but stationary. Before moving into the dorms at Ozark Christian College, she lived in 16 different homes across 12 different cities. But once she arrived at Ozark, things started to settle down—especially after meeting Paul. She earned her three-year Biblical Ministry Certificate and, after getting married in 1995, made Fort Scott home.

Kara began serving in children’s ministry at Community as a volunteer—though anyone around back then will tell you that “volunteer” doesn’t begin to cover how much she did. After more than two decades of dedicated service, she officially joined the staff as Kids’ Coordinator, and in 2024 stepped into her current role as Kids’ Ministry Director.

Paul and Kara have five children: three boys—Drew (married to Maddie), Luke (married to Gabri), and Noah—and two girls, Maia and Emma. Kara’s heart for adoption was shaped early on, having grown up with a sister adopted from Korea. That calling became part of her own family’s story when she and Paul adopted Maia and Emma from Korea as well.

Books, Movies, or Podcasts:
Kara loves a good mystery—whether it’s on the page, the screen, or through a set of headphones.

Favorite Ministry Memory:
“My favorite memory in ministry is watching kids make the decision to follow Jesus!”
